Hero In Our Ranks

Callum Roche

A Heartfelt Thank You to Callum Roche

At Subscan, we are incredibly proud to recognise one of our own, Callum Roche, who truly embodies the spirit of a hero. A few weeks ago, while our jet vac drainage team was working in the Midlands area, a critical incident unfolded. One of our fellow drainage engineers, Joshua Wade, unexpectedly suffered a mini heart attack due to an undiagnosed blood clot.

In that intense moment, Callum’s quick thinking and first aid knowledge made all the difference. Without hesitation, Callum performed CPR and placed Josh in the recovery position, actions that were crucial until the Midlands emergency services arrived. The emergency responders later informed us that if it weren’t for Callum’s prompt and skilled intervention, Josh might not have survived. In Josh’s own words, “Callum is a real star,” and we couldn’t agree more.

To Callum, we extend our deepest gratitude. Your actions that day were nothing short of heroic. You are a true hero among us, and we are all immensely thankful for your bravery and composure under pressure. We also send our heartfelt wishes to Josh for a speedy and full recovery.

The Lifesaving Power of First Aid

This incident serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of first aid in the workplace. In emergencies, particularly those involving serious injuries or medical conditions, first aid can stabilise a person’s condition until professional help arrives, preventing the situation from worsening. The ability to perform CPR quickly is often the difference between life and death. Having a trained first aider like Callum on hand, who can remain calm and act decisively, is truly invaluable.

At Subscan, we are committed to ensuring that our team is equipped with the life-saving skills needed in emergencies. First aid training is not just a requirement; it is a critical component of our dedication to safety and well-being.
