Culvert Cleaning and Inspection
Culvert Cleaning and Inspection
Most culverts can be in difficult to reach areas or treacherous terrain, but at Subscan we are fully equipped with the latest vehicles and equipment to perform cleaning and surveying of small to large diameter culverts. Using our off-road recyclers, remote reels, portable CCTV and man-entry walkthroughs we can survey and cleanse any culvert, no matter the location.
It is incredibly important that there is a regular inspection and maintenance of culverts so as to reduce the risk of flooding. At Subscan we use high-powered water jetting and suction to clean and remove silt, detritus, and accumulated waste. Benefits of Culvert Cleaning and Inspection
Prevents Flooding: By clearing blockages, we ensure water can flow freely through the culvert, reducing the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall.
Infrastructure Preservation: Regular inspection and maintenance help extend the lifespan of the culvert, minimizing the need for costly repairs or replacements.
Environmental Protection: Maintaining a clear and unobstructed culvert ensures the waterway remains ecologically balanced and preserves local habitats.
Compliance: Our services adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring your culvert is in line with all guidelines.
Catch Pit Clearance
Catch pit clearance is done by using an air movement system therefore eliminating the use of vacuum. The air mover is driven direct from the machines PTO drive. This saves a considerable amount of time.
BENEFITS:
Subscan can empty catch pits quickly and remove ballast from catch pit lids therefore requiring a minimal number of staff. Quickly clears culverts, toughing and cable-ducts of ballast, stone, sludge and other contaminants.
Water Jetting Capacity
Subscan employs cutting-edge Jet Vac equipment, harnessing powerful water jetting and suction capabilities to efficiently dislodge and extract accumulated waste from culverts and sewer systems. This proactive approach helps prevent blockages and potential environmental hazards. Subscan prioritizes responsible waste disposal practices, ensuring that all waste is disposed of in accordance with environmental regulations to mitigate any harm to the surrounding ecosystem.

Project type:
CCTV Drainage Survey, Drain Cleansing and De-Silting
Location:
A64, North and West Yorkshire
Overview
Reactive, complete solution to remove blockage from a vital culvert on a stretch of highway. Subscan worked throughout the night to minimise disruption to local community.
Subscan were appointed on emergency works as a vital culvert was blocked under the A64, causing major flooding across the highway. As the only major transport link from Leeds to the East Coast, the drainage solution caused a huge problem to the general public.
Our team were tasked in removing all excess water on the highway using our fleet of jet vac tankers. Once all of the water was removed our team completed a detailed CCTV drainage survey to locate the blockage. The culvert required de silting and cleansing to restore the flow to the structure.
The works were carried out over three nights shifts and 8 tonnes of silt removed from site. All flow was restored, and the highway was back to full operation.
